Alain Elkann

Born in New York (1950), Mr. Elkann took his degree in law at the University of Geneva (1973). Between 2001 and 2004 he acted as consultant to Minister Giuliano Urbani for Italian cultural affairs abroad at the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali.



  •  At present he is Administrative Consultant for culture for the Rosselli Foundation;
  • Consultant to the Giorgio Bassani Foundation;
  • Consultant for the Ente Teatrale Italiano (Italian Theatre Guild).  
  • He is member of the literary jury of Grinzane Cavour and of the National Commission for Italian Cultural Affairs Abroad.
  • President of FIAC (Foundation for Italian Art and Culture) New York


In October 2004 Elkann was appointed President of the Fondazione Museo delle Antichità Egizie di Torino.

He is a recognised author and journalist: he writes for the publishers Mondadori and Bompiani, conducts television programmes for LA7 and contributes regularly to Nuovi Argomenti, La Stampa, Lo Specchio, Capital and other journals.

He is married and has three sons.
