On Wednesday, the 24th of October 2018, two lectures will take place in the conference room of the Museo Egizio.

Dominique Charpin will hold a conference entitled “Recent discoveries about Old Babylonian Mesopotamia” and, then, Nele Ziegler will give a lecture called “Zimri-Lim’s servants and the sick child”.

The first conference will focus on the “ARCHIBAB” project, devoted to the Old Babylonian archives, which begun in 2008. In the past ten years, the project has grown and published many interesting news.

The second lecture will be centred on the Mari archives, which provide many insights into the society of the 18th century BC. In particular, the conference will focus on a young orphan of one of Zimri-Lim’s administrators.

Dominique Charpin is a Professor at the Collège de France.

Nele Ziegler is the Director of research at the CNRS.

Stefano de Martino is a Professor of the Dipartimento di Studi Storici of the University of Turin and the Scientific Director of the Centro Ricerche Archeologiche e Scavi di Torino per il Medio Oriente e l’Asia (CRAST), and he will give an introduction during the event.

Free admission according to seats availability.
