On Tuesday 15th December 2022, at 6.00 pm, we will host the lecture "Cortile aperto: the Egyptian Garden from the idea to realisation" held by Johannes Auenmüller, curator of the Museo Egizio.

In June 2022, the special project "Cortile Aperto: Flora dell’Antico Egitto" was successfully inaugurated at the Museo Egizio. As a first step towards the ongoing transformation of the museum in view of its bicentenary in 2024, it has transformed the transitional space of the courtyard into a green oasis which can be appreciated by museum visitors and citizens of Turin alike. Since its inception, the garden project was faced with several minor and major challenges which have led to the current form of display. Johannes Auenmüller’s presentation will provide a detailed insight view into the development and realisation of the project, taking Egyptological, archaeobotanical and horticultural as well as architectural considerations into account.

The event will be held in English and will be introduced by Divina Centore, egyptologist of Museo Egizio.

Free admission to the conference room subject to availability.

The lecture will be broadcast via streaming on the Museum's Facebook page and Youtube channel
